Roche Harbor to Canoe Cove BC

20240916 – We set our departure to catch fair currents into Canoe Cove. It was a little bit nerve wracking as it looked to be like threading a needle to get through the islands and into the Cove.

But it was also a very short leg of 3 hours or so. We readied the boat then cranked the engine and shoved off around 0930. We motored across Haro Strait dodging between a tug towing a barge followed by a Yang Ming container ship both coming down the Strait from Vancouver.

We did get up in amongst the islands and did, in fact, thread the needle through some not-very-obvious passages into Canoe Cove. The last passage we went through just south of Coal Island was not evident until the last moment and the current was flooding through it at a very high rate, in our favor but scary, nonetheless.

We were tied up at the Canada Border Services dock by 1245 and phoned into their Customs for our clearance into the country. We ran down the Q flag and then drove around to the Blackline dock and were tied up there by 1340.

Matt from Blackline came down and met us, explained how everything would go the next day and where everything was (power, heads, marina office, etc). Then we hit the head and checked in with Raven and the Marina office where we got changed some cash for loonies for the showers.
