Sidney Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea and waterfront

20240922 – Jimena made us breakfast then just before 1000 we drove into Sidney to the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, the aquarium there. It is small but well done. We saw all manner of local fishes, crabs and aquatic plants from the local area.

When we left the aquarium, we walked along the waterfront first south to the per then north around the Sidney Marina, despite a cold wind and light rain. It was a cold, gray day indeed. We did not stay out too long but still managed to walk just under a mile and a half.

We went back to the condo and waited out the rain. I worked on our departure plans then took a nap for awhile. I had gotten cold.

Around 1430 we left to go hiking in the john Dean Provincial Park but discovered that the Park was closed today. Instead we went to the boat and got nail clippers for the Michin then drove into Sidney to provision. We went first to a Swedish bakery but they did not sell croissants (those are French) so we walked next door to a grocery and bought croissants and chocolate bars.

We went back to the condo where we split a chocolate bar, Jimena made supper for us, we watched some TV then went to bed by 2300.
