Sidney Waterfront and Gatilin’s real birthday

20240924 – The Michin woke me up around 0500 but then let me sleep until 0630. I got up, got coffee and let the Michin outside on the balcony. Around 0700 I took Jimena coffee and a croissant in bed and sang happy birthday to her as it was her real (as opposed to administrative) birthday.

Jimena made breakfast for us then we went to the boatyard around 0900 thinking we would be there in plenty of time to do the engine daily checks and ready the boat for a noon launch. But we found her already in the water and tied up alongside on C dock. We just connected her to shore power and I cleared a piece of kelp from the rudder which bothered Jimena, then we ran into Matt.

Matt said Mike could install the raw water pump I bought, and he gave us the gouge on departing through Page Passage at low water.

Then, as it was a sunny day, we drove back into Sidney and went for a longer walk along the waterfront.

It is Illegal...

We walked from the aquarium down past the old Anacortes ferry terminal, (which does not look set to reopen anytime soon), stopped in at an art exhibition by a couple of women, and down to the end of the path then back to our car at the aquarium. We walked just under 2 ¾ miles.

We then went to the grocery market and the bakery for eggs, fizzly water, breakfast goods and more cookies before we returned to the condo and took naps, washed clothes and showered.

Just before 1700 we walked around the corner to Sea Glass Waterfront Grill where I had reservations for dinner for Jimena’s birthday. After a very nice dinner we strolled the Van Isle Marina on Tsehum Harbour and looked at the boats tied up there.

Cheers to the birthday girl!

We were in bed by 2245 after watching some Netflix.
