La Paz, Baja California Sur
31 March 2022 - We spent a lovely week tied up to a dock in the Costa Baja Marina just north of La Paz. We walked around the marina, ate in several very delicious restaurants, used the internet to make arrangements for the next legs of our trip, and generally lazed about.

We did take care of some chores such as refilling our water tanks, reprovisioning and downloading charts to the iPad. We also got this blog caught up for anyone who’s still with us. It would get beastly hot in the sun of the day so we erected our sunshades over the boat. This made it quite pleasant below decks. Nights were still cool and comfortable for sleeping, with hatches and the companionway left open for ventilation and screened against insects.
A couple of times we took the free shuttle into La Paz downtown and toured a little, bought some parts at the hardware store, bought some groceries at the super mercado and joined the Club Cruceros as dues paying members. We also paid a visit to a hairstylist recommended to us on the Club Cruceros 0800 VHF net call which we monitored several mornings.
One day we went to the beach club and for a fee, used their swimming pool, walked their beach at low tide, and lounged about in their sun on their chairs with their towels and drank one of their cocktails. All right decadent.

We had drinks with Mark and Deb aboard S/V Reverie and checked out their boat, a bit different configuration Valiant 42 from ours. We had them over to check out our boat the evening before they left for the mainland with their newly repaired transmission.
Eventually it was time for us to depart too. It would be as easy as falling down to hang out in a marina and not move, but it always comes time and we do get the itch to move on as well. Despite the sailor’s superstition against sailing on a Friday, we will do it, leaving on the high tide on April Fool’s Day. We will cross our fingers that Neptune is sleeping then.
