Puerto Escondido

22 April 2022 - We made it into Puerto Escondido Marina a day early, early in the day, and got fuel. While we waited for the fuel dock to open, we walked to our assigned slip and found it occupied so Jimena went to the office and got us a new slip. This marina is now our favorite by acclamation. Being in any marina is a welcome respite but this one is well-run, well-maintained, and well appointed. It has a nice restaurant called La Brisa where we ate often; a pool; some shops and a “Captain’s Lounge”. In addition, it is set in magnificent scenery with mountains rearing up behind it, a large, protected mooring field and “The Windows”, two low spots between the hills protecting the moorings which look out onto the Sea of Cortez. We had a laundry facility, so clean clothes; nice showers with cold AND hot water, so clean bodies; and plenty of electricity and fresh water on the dock, so a clean and charged boat.

The last couple of mornings in Puerto Escondido we woke up enveloped in dense fog. Fortunately it lifts and visibility increases dramatically around 0800. On our supposed last evening in Puerto Escondido, over dinner, we decided we were not in such a great hurry, light winds were forecast for the next week, we still had to put some updates on this blog, and so we would ask to stay one more night in the marina. All-in-all, a great stay in Puerto Escondido. First rate service and facilities. Well worth the visit.
