The Time in Between

After we bought Antoinette, shipped her all the way across the Continental United States, had her recommissioned and launched in San Diego and then sailed her up to Long Beach, we got to know her by numerous relatively short coastal cruises. Our insurance had geographic limits between Point Conception, California and Rio Santo Tomas, Baja California and that was about as far as we could get away in any case while work was still mill stoning us, and about as far as we wanted to go while we learned our new boat.

And that was plenty enough for us to see many wondrous things. We saw whales. dolphins by the hundreds, sea lions, sharks, all manner of birds, fishes, rays and turtles

We sailed most often to Santa Catalina Island, but also down to Dana Point, Oceanside, San Diego, Channel Islands National Park, Santa Barbara, and Point Conception. We circumnavigated Santa Catalina as well as Island White, a favorite anchorage a couple of miles from our slip. We Picked up moorings at Isthmus and Catalina Harbor and we hiked the hills above Two Harbors.
