Bahia Santo Domingo-Posada Concepcion

2 May 2022 - We got a good early start for Playa Santispac, pulling up the anchor and getting under way around 0800. Two other boats, S/V Nayeli and S/V Nivasi, had exactly the same idea and departed Santo Domingo at exactly the same time we did. They gradually pulled ahead of us so we followed them into Santispac.

Santispac was rather hot and still and had several boats in it already. I don’t know why but Nayeli and Nivasi both passed though the bay, on into Posada Concepcion and out and around to Playa Burro further south.

We liked the look of Posada Concepcion and so determined to anchor there. As we came into anchor we spied another boat already anchored there; it was our friends from San Juanico, Cheryl and Neil abord Phoenix 1. I knew we would see them again but was quite happy that it was this soon.

We hailed Phoenix 1 as we passed them, got anchored then inflated our dinghy and went to visit Phoenix 1. They had come straight up from Caleta San Juanico to Posada Concepcion (they are faster than we are), skipping Punta Pulpito and Bahia Santo Domingo.

They invited us for drinks and dinner aboard their boat so we dinghied back to our boat, then dinghied over to the Santispac beach (about ½ mile away) where we ate some tacos for lunch at Ana’s and got some water from their cistern. Back at our boat we took showers and dressed for dinner then dinghied over to Phoenix 1. We had hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, pasta salad for dinner, good conversation and wine after dinner. A superb evening all around, good food, good drink and good company.
