New Year’s Day in Mexico

1 January 2023 – After the rousing New Year’s celebration last night we got up somewhat early, readied the boat, and moved out of the slip we were in and back to the mooring field anew.

We picked up a mooring on the third try: the first mooring ball hawser was eaten up; the eye was completely gone, and the hawser had been knotted back together several times. The second mooring had a float marked “reserved”; so, we nailed the third one and were tied up with engine off by 0820.

We buttoned up the boat then Jimena made us breakfast, followed by naps in the afternoon.

The wind got up a bit in the afternoon but that helped keep us off the mooring ball which had a lot of oyster shells and barnacles on it.

We are staying here to await at least one package which should arrive tomorrow. But then the forecasts show no winds, so we will likely wait another week just floating on the mooring. We will at least be able to dinghy into the Marina and use the facilities (internet, showers, electricity, etc.)

But on the first day of 2023 we did nothing but lie around on the boat.
