Tsehum Harbour near The Latch Inn

20240920 – Today we woke up, had coffee and breakfast then packed out of the first Air BnB we were in on Ardwell Ave. We drove up to the boatyard and checked in on Antoinette and Mike.

Mike gave me the unwelcome news that our engine raw water pump was leaking, I thought I had a replacement but had only a rebuild kit about which Mike was not enthusiastic. So I departed the boatyard determined to find a replacement pump and to try to get it installed before we departed Canoe Cove. That is certainly a job beyond me, at least beyond my level of desire at this point.

We had coffees and baked goods in the “Fox and Monocle” café at the boatyard and Jimena got us clearance to check in early in the new Air BnB condo at the end of Harbor Road and next to the Latch Inn.

We departed the boatyard and drove back down near Sidney to the new Air BnB condo style where we gained access and got moved in by 1130.

As luck would have it there was a Beta Marine Engine store right near us which could source a compatible raw water pump (not OEM as Westerbeke would have taken too long to deliver, especially to Sidney BC, and at a much higher price) so I ordered the Anchor pump to be picked up by Monday afternoon, a very quick turn.

Jimena started all our laundry by 1230 or so and I reserved a slip (the last one available for our size) for the 27th of September in Point Hudson. After that we strolled the area, sitting on benches overlooking the entrance to Tsehum Harbour from whence we could view Mount Baker on a clear day.

We also walked around the Resthaven Park and out on the island that is also a bird sanctuary in Tsehum Harbour. We saw Canada geese and loons, appropriately enough. We walked back to the condo and entered by way of the back gardens.

In the evening we relaxed, Jimena made us supper, we watched some TV then got into bed by 2230.
