La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit, Mexico

10 March 2023 – We have been on the dock in Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle (that is pronounced Whanakatlay for all my gringo friends) for almost a month now, long enough to get a lot of stuff done, to have the bottom cleaned once, to get to know a lot of the local folks and meet many other cruisers, and to explore much of the town.

If the wind were right and Jimena were back from visiting her family, I would be ready to shove off and get going. But none of that is the case and so we will stay here waiting, mostly for the weather window which may not turn our way until late next month.

Many of the people here are staging and getting ready to head across the Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia, a large undertaking. Our undertaking, leaving Banderas Bay for Hawaii, is only marginally smaller. There are still many things to get done before we shove off and many things that wake me up in the middle of the night to worry about. However, in the end, I believe we will just have to go as everything will never be perfect before the departure.

I have been advertising for crew on the daily cruisers net but getting no takers. Jimena will come back on the 17th from Colombia.
